This past weekend we did an engagement shoot at Gas Works Park  over here in Seattle. It was a beautiful day and Melisa and Josh were fantastic…

Photographers have a funny way of never really being satisfied - which is why, during a shoot, we’ll say “One last time guys” over and over again. And this shoot was no exception. Fortunately, Melisa and Josh were super laid back and seemed to be in no hurry. Thanks, guys!

Yes, on the hottest day of the year so far, Chris and I shot a beautiful wedding at the gorgeous Mountain View Lodge in Chewelah, Washington. What a great time. And all those times at weddings that we ate scrumpeous chocloate chip cookies (without milk), my god . . . THERE WERE PITCHERS OF ICE COLD MILK !!! My kind of wedding for sure guys . . .

Here are a few images from Saturday. The rest are already up on the site so feel free to view and enjoy.

This is a jump shot that we have received a great deal of publicity for. One of the anchors for a local broadcast company (who we also shot the wedding of) asked us to put this up on the blog again for people to see. And for all those other photographers out there who think they were the ones who invented this, we were the only ones who were doing this as our “signature trademark” for weddings back in the 70’s. The others mostly weren’t even born then. (ha . . . )

This one was shot by Dan Dekan and is also printed at 24 x 36 in the studio . . .

For those who have heard the rumor of new billboards going up soon with our images on them . . . yes, this is true. Here are examples of what the images look like prior to the wording going over the top. They will be up for an entire year, rotated around our local area. My special thanks to all the people who helped us pull these off.

Chris and I shot the first wedding at the newly renovated Patsy Clark’s Mansion in Browns Addition. The bride and her family were worried about rain as the forecast predicted, but we decided to risk going without a tent in order to get the best shots and not have to shoot around a potential eyesore. And as you can see, no rain. (It did however, rain cats and dogs at midnight so we were very lucky)

Well, this last Saturday’s wedding rained all day long. We were very fortunate that everyone was in a great mood and didn’t let the “wet” bother them at all. This first shot was taken by Jackie and was stunning with the beautiful sunset in the background.

img_3139ccouplesunset.jpg

Here is a shot of the wedding party on the hill down from the house.

img_9775cumbrellas.jpg

And of course a stunning cake made by the absolute best cake maker, Darren Gleason that was delicious and talked about all night long.

img_9556ccake.jpg

And of course the Converse Chuck Taylors worn by all . . . even the Bride and Groom . . . (very cool guys) . . .

img_9739cchuckies.jpg

And ending the night with the Hoola Hoops. Yes, the bride could handle them all at one time. She was the winner in more ways than one on her wedding day.

img_9977choolahoop.jpg

What started out to be a “rain on her parade” ended up being a fairy tale wedding that was simply awesome. The entire collection of images are on the site under the “events” tab. Enjoy . . .

“And yes . . . Jackie did get the best shots this time for sure.”

The latest wedding this last weekend was nothing short of fantastic. From the Samari sword swing from the groom to take off the champagne cork, to the hoola hoops at the end, this one will not soon be topped.

Michael and Maya . . . you guys TRULY rock !!!!!!!!

Or so it seems . . .

This is the latest of several events this last weekend. Mandy could not have looked any more beautiful while shooting her across the water. Of course, we won’t show you the shots of her veil getting snagged in the trees as she attempted to get out of there without help from Dan. Trust me . . . it was quite hilarious.

This is one of many awesome shots taken by Dan Dekan this last weekend while out of town on our latest Assignment Shoot. The people were great, the food was awesome and the weather could not have been any better.

Every time I look at this image, it touches me. We were walking back to our ride in downtown Prague with tens of thousands of people in the streets doing what they do every day. It was very busy and in the middle of it all . . . was this young couple. They were oblivious to the rest of the world and could care less about all the hussle bussle around them in every direction. The way they were looking at each other and fell into each other’s arms was simply something I could not pass up shooting. This is one of several I took while watching them embrace. They had no idea I was there and I am thankful that I was able to capture their emotions in this photograph, if only for a moment.

There is no question, that “this” is true love . . .

True Love . . .

While in the Czech Republic, Simon and I decided to explore the local town of Chotoviny. Its roughly 3000 people and very quiet and sleepy. A great place for anyone to simply “get away from it all” for awhile. For a long time, we both thought the town was shut down due to no one being out on the streets at all. This is not like the US where almost anywhere there are people doing all sorts of things daily. So we walked and walked until we finally came to the train station. It as well, appeared deserted. Simon asked me to keep a look out for any trains as he wanted to get on the tracks and take some “on your belly” fisheye shots of the track. Since you could easily see a 1/4 mile in both directions, I was not concerned in the slightest. A few minutes later as we were both on the ground, checking out what our lenses were seeing, we turned around to the side a bit to be completely startled by a fast moving yellow train which seemed to make little to no noise.

Train coming . . .

Moral of the story - - - “In the Czech Republic, the trains are electric and make no noise”We are very lucky that we were not on THAT particular track as we would not be here today. And as all of you are now laughing at how stupid we were . . . it was no laughing matter at the time. (Ok . . . we did laugh quite hysterically once we started our hearts again.)

Apr 21

So, for all of you out there that are dying to see the images from the Zamek Chotoviny Castle in the Czech Republic, here are a few to wet your whistle. We are working hard to put up somewhere close to 1000 on one of our sites for all to review.

From way above the crowd . . .

For anyone who is interested, this castle is available for weddings and corporate meetings and events. The On the edge marketing team can be contacted regarding this facility and has all details pertaining to all aspects of this “fairy tale” place. Want to give your daughter the “wedding of a lifetime?” This is a place that everyone will remember for the rest of their lives.

Flower girl . . .

We had a team of 6 at this event who made this a worry-free time for everyone. The bride and groom were fantastic to work with and the weather was perfect.

We all got lost several times in this 54, 000 square foot facility . . .

On the edge of a peaceful and sleepy little village, and an easy drive from Prague, this is a rare find that some lucky people will be able to book for late this season and early next year. Yes, this facility books WAY in advance, so if you are at all interested, do not put off calling. We will gladly send you a full DVD of how this can be your destination facility as well.

The wedding party walking through the french gardens to the back fountain . . .

And another shot from above of a special private moment . . .

And for all you photographers out there who are wondering how we got this shot . . . sorry, that’s our little secret . . .

This was the bride about an hour before the wedding. The interiors of this facility are simply unbelievable as you can see.

Last quite time for the bride . . .

And the night before at the local pub up the road. A celebration of family and friends . . .

Cheers . . .

And in the last light of the day, both Johannes and Jillian went on a wonderful bike ride through the 100 acre woods.

A late afternoon ride through the 100 acre woods . . .

We spent 5 days in this magical place with these wonderful people. Yes, it was 7000 miles away. We went through 3 airports, 4 customs stops, 5 security checks and all with over 300 pounds of gear. For those who are unaware . . . we love what we do and it shows in our work EVERY time.

Thanks guys . . . this team is the best on the planet. We couldn’t do it without you.

Marc Muench / PSA Seminar - March 29-30, 2008

PSA (Photography Society of America) brings in some of the best photographers in the world every year and this year was no exception. The region 26 of PSA had a 2 day seminar with the acclaimed Mr. Marc Muench. I had met Marc, along with his father David, many years ago while heading to a shoot in Southern Arizona. I can honestly tell you that he is one of the most passionate and skilled photographers I have ever known. There were over 150 people at this event for both Saturday and Sunday, and even though is snowed like mad, every person seemed to have a very good time and learn from one of the best of the best. I am grateful that four of our photographers we’re able to attend and even more grateful that I personally know this man.

Simon was able to document many of the aspects of what happened at this event and we should be putting some of these images up here soon. The above montage poster was designed by Mr. David Samms and a large framed one was given to Marc at the end of this event.

Marc . . . we hope that you enjoyed our Davenport Hotel, the food at the Steamplant Grill and all the crazy people that make up this crazy place we call home.
